The roaring thunder of the Japanese drums marked the height of the excitement, as hundreds of people gathered together in celebration of Vancouver’s longest on-going community event – The 34th Annual Powell Street Festival.
Sunrise Soya Foods, alongside other Asian cuisine vendors, served tasty meals like the Tofuyaki (Grilled Tofu with Teriyaki Sauce) and Matcha Frappe (Green Tea Smoothie) to hungry and thirsty participants. Event organizers are saying this year’s festival may be their largest yet.
“It was a huge success!” Sonya Ng from Sunrise Soya Foods explains excitedly. “Everyone enjoyed the food and the festivities.”
As hundreds of locals enjoyed the delights of tofu, the festivities continued, with bands like Paris in Tokyo, Otowa-Ru, and other Japanese bands taking over center stage.
Powell Street Festival is an annual celebration that honours the arts and culture of Japanese and Asian Canadians. It’s one of the longest-running community events in Vancouver.
