Tofu Ice with Matcha Green Tea Syrup

This simple and refreshing dessert is sure to be a hit, especially in the hot summer months. At the Powell Street Festival we served up Sunrise Original Tofu Dessert with the Matcha Green Tea Syrup, but you can come up with your own flavour combinations. Banana or Almond Tofu Dessert with chocolate sauce is one delicious option. Just pick you favourite tofu dessert flavour, your favourite ice cream sauces and toppings and you’re good to go!

Prep time: 15 min   Freezing time: Overnight   Servings: 15

Tofu Ice
Freeze any flavour of Sunrise Tofu Dessert overnight. Remove from freezer approximately 5-10 minutes before serving to allow the tofu to thaw. If you’re short on time, run the tofu under hot water for about 30 seconds.  Remove from container and place in serving dish. If you want to make smaller portions, you can also cut the frozen tofu dessert to desired size.

Matcha Green Tea Syrup

INGREDIENTS

½ cup water
½ cup sugar
1½ tsp matcha green tea powder

DIRECTIONS

1.    Heat sugar and water on stovetop until sugar has dissolved and syrup is boiling.
2.    Turn off the heat and add the green tea powder.  Do not mix.
3.    After about 10 minutes, mix green tea powder into syrup until smooth. Strain if needed.
4.    Serve over frozen tofu dessert.
