Production Supervisor – Afternoon

Our Delta location is currently seeking Afternoon Production Supervisor to join our growing Western team.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring production efficiency maximization through the effective utilization of labor, improvement of production methods, and cost control. Achieve results through a team approach, directing the work of production staff as well as working with other departments in the Company.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

  • Ensure personal and team adherence to company policies and standards encompassing safety, quality, cost control, and timely delivery.
  • Uphold and enforce compliance with regulatory standards including Provincial Employment Standards, Health and Safety Acts, and Food Safety protocols.
  • Report safety concerns promptly, participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee initiatives, and support employee relations through communication, coaching, and training.

Production

  • Conduct daily cross-departmental meetings to address production, health and safety, and quality issues.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify Production Manager/Plant Manager of any production schedule discrepancies.
  • Develop worker schedules based on sales forecasts, plant capacity, and material availability.
  • Ensure production operators adhere to established standards, reporting any variances to supervisors.
  • Review and update SOPs, SSOPs, and production forms actively.
  • Supervise production staff, maintaining documentation for employee records and enforcing company policies and procedures.

People Development 

  • Commit to and motivate employees to go above and beyond minimum compliance to ensure safety, food safety and quality, assume ownership and take appropriate action when violations are discovered.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with all departments and production teams from other locations, as needed, to maintain consistent high standards of production processes, procedures, documentation and work company wide.
  • Recruit and train production staff, establishing a highly motivated, flexible, quick- responding and quality work force.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of employees through strategic hiring, onboarding/training, assignment of duties, discipline, and dismissal.
  • Coordinate team activities through effective scheduling, assignment of work, setting of priorities, and delegating of work.

Other Job Duties

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by Production Manager/Plant Manager.
  • In the event the Production Supervisor is absent, the Production Team Lead shall act as a backup. The Production Supervisor shall act as backup in the absence of the following functional positions: Production Manager and/or Plant Manager.
  • Be actively involved in continuous improvement and aim for lean manufacturing, waste reduction and high efficiency.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Minimum 5 years of production supervisory experience, preferably in the food industry.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, emphasizing teamwork.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to handle confidential matters discreetly.
  • Effective leadership skills, including delegation, motivation, and goal achievement.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Permanent Full-time position (40 hours per week)
  • Afternoon Shift
  • Work is performed 30% in an office environment and 70% in production facility.
  • Exposure to noise, wet, hot, and cold temperatures varied environments when in the production area.
  • Interaction with employees, management, and the public at large
  • Flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as required to meet business needs.
  • After-hours availability on emergency calls
  • Wearing of company provided Uniform and other Personal Protective Equipment is required as applicable.
