Healthy Lasagna

Nothing beats the smell of a cheesy lasagna slowly baking in the oven (Monterey Jack cheese adds a bit of a spicy kick if you’re feeling adventurous). Our version of this classic family favourite uses crumbled up Sunrise Firm Tofu instead of the ground beef that is traditionally used. You can also use our Soyganic Firm Tofu if you want to keep your tofu organic – It handles the same as our Sunrise Firm variety.

If you want to give your lasagna a bit more colour and texture than our simple version, try throwing in different layers of cooked vegetables. Veggies like eggplant, spinach, zucchini or mushrooms always make for nice additions (the added vitamins don’t hurt either). If you’re going to use eggplant or zucchini, make sure that you don’t slice them too thick, otherwise your layers will be uneven.

This healthy vegetarian lasagna also freezes quite well after you cook it. If you don’t end up finishing the pan, throw your leftovers into the freezer and reheat them for an easy leftover-night-in.

Tofu French Fries

Who would’ve thought that “tofu” and “French fries” would ever be put together in the same sentence? Using our Sunrise Extra Firm Tofu (or Soyganic Extra Firm Tofu), we made French fries with a bit more protein than their traditional counterparts.

Whether you want to enjoy them as a side to a delicious burger, or on their own as a snack, these crispy fries have a fantastic texture. You can eat them on their own after seasoning them with some salt, or you can make a dip to go along with them like the Soy Sauce Aioli included in the recipe. Our Tahini dip also makes a nice dipping side.

Healthy Homemade Pizza

This recipe is a fun one to make with the kids! By marinating crumbled Sunrise or Soyganic Extra Firm Tofu in BBQ sauce, the tofu quickly takes on the texture and taste of ground pork or beef traditionally found on most pizzas.

Our healthy pizza calls for peppers, cheese and little bit of cilantro. However, for a pizza that’s true to you, marinate the crumbled tofu with whatever sauce you want! Tofu readily absorbs the flavours it’s cooked/marinated with, so don’t be afraid to be adventurous! Some of us here have tried this recipe using sauces like hoisin (for a Thai-style pizza), sweet-chili (a hit for those who like spicy-sweet flavour), and mango chutney (for a South Asian twist).
