  • 1 pkg Sunrise Medium Firm Tofu (454g) mashed
  • 15 mL (1 Tbsp) oil
  • 2 mL (1/2 tsp) cumin seeds
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 mL (1/4 tsp) turmeric powder
  • 5 mL (1 tsp) ginger, minced
  • 5 mL (1 tsp) garlic, minced
  • 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • 2 mL (1/2 tsp) cumin powder
  • 2 mL (1/2 tsp) red chili powder
  • 2 mL (1/2 tsp) chaat masala
  • 2 mL (1/2 tsp) garam masala
  • 5 mL (1 tsp) coriander powder
  • salt to taste
  • cilantro for garnish


  1. In a medium pan, heat oil on medium heat. Add cumin seeds and sauté until fragrant. Add onions, turmeric powder, ginger and garlic. Sauté for 1-2 min until onions are translucent.
  2. Add tomatoes and green chilies. Cook for 2-3 min until tomatoes are soft.
  3. Add cumin powder, red chili powder, chaat masala, garam masala, coriander powder and salt. Combine with mixture and cook for 1 min.
  4. Add mashed tofu and mix until tofu is well coated.
  5. Cover and allow the tofu to heat through and brown. Garnish with cilantro and serve hot with rotis or chapati.
